THE GREAT SPIRITUAL CLASH

Posted by Billy Roberts on January 20, 2008 8:47 PM

Dr Ciaran O'Keeffe and myself have combined our individual professional efforts and written a book entitled THE GREAT SPIRITUAL CLASH! - in the shops from July 2008. Ciaran O'Keeffe, as many people will know, appears regularly on the popular television programme MOST HAUNTED. Although Ciaran and I come from very different backgrounds, the book is a confrontational project that culminates into a 'meeting of minds', and is a debate on all aspects of the paranormal. We have also created an extremely unusual stage show, based primarily on the book, and this will first be staged in the West End of London and then onto Broadway in New York. We also begin filming this for a new television programme to be shown in the UK towards the end of 2008.

RINGO WHO?

Posted by Billy Roberts on January 20, 2008 7:44 PM

When I left school in 1962 I was already a professional musician, and doing what every guy my age was only dreaming of doing - playing lead guitar in a rock band and touring through Europe with some of the biggest names in music, such as The Small Faces, The Yardbirds, The Kinks and even Jimi Hendrix.. Although I was never a Beatle's fan, like everyone else in my profession I respected and admired them for what they had achieved. However, I particularly admired John Lennon and Paul MCcartney, and always thought they were quite special and extremely talented. After the opening of Liverpool's Capital of Culture event, I was quite disgusted with the way in which Ringo Starr degraded Liverpool with his blatent and yet sometimes veiled innuendoes, showing him for what he is - an ignorant, talentless man who seized the opportunity to use such a prestigious event to promote his new album, whose title I will not mention. Ringo, where have you been all these years? He even admitted that he will not be coming back to Liverpool, if he can help it! No problem Ringo, what's your name? That's the last time we'll invite you! I would suggest you stick to narrating Thomas The Tank Engine. That at least was right up your street!

OUT OF TUNE...

Posted by Billy Roberts on January 20, 2008 6:50 PM

Although I have been a professional medium for over 25 years, I would be the first to admit that the mediumistic process is unreliable and extremely inconsistent. It can be quite daunting for anyone consulting a medium for the first time, but for someone expecting to receive communication from a deceased relative or friend, the whole process can prove to be quite disappointing. The majority of people who consult mediums do tend to have misconceptions about what a medium actually is, let alone what a medium is capable of doing. Those who are not familiar with the mediumistic process often wrongly assume that mediums have the ability to ‘call’ back anyone they choose, and that the so called ‘dead’ are somehow floating round in the ether until called upon by the medium. Regardless of how accurate the medium is, he or she cannot guarantee results. Why then do you suppose that some mediums claim to receive communication with the spirits of ‘dead’ celebrities such as John Lennon or even Diana Princess of Wales? One medium even claimed to have made contact with Mary Queen of Scots, and this was on a popular television programme. It is sad that an awful lot of people watching these programmes believe everything they see. A Liverpool medium appeared on an American television programme claiming to have received communication from John Lennon. Is this wishful thinking, or simply a case of 'I WANT TO BE FAMOUS?' Little wonder that I receive anonymous emails asking me why I don't use my alleged psychic abilities to find a certain missing child, or even to bring unsolved crimes to a conclusion. I don't know who is more pitiful, the writers of these emails, or mediums who claim to be in touch with the spirit of John Lennon. I do apologise for being so sarcastically cynical, but you have most probably guessed that I am one disillusioned medium. .

THE MAGIC LOCKER

Posted by Billy Roberts on January 9, 2008 12:19 PM

My children's book, THE MAGIC LOCKER is to be published by Trinity Mirror on the 4th May 2008. This tells the story of a chronically sick 7 year old boy who is forced to spend most of his life in Alder Hey Children's Hospital. To help him cope with being in hospital he finds a way into a surreal world via the locker beside his bed. This magical world is called Heswobble, and is peopled by cartoon-like characters, the leader of which is called THE SLEEPY TIME KEEPER, who becomes the little boy's friend.

Jen Heyes from CUT TO THE CHASE PRODUCTIONS will be presenting, producing and directing the children's musical production of THE MAGIC LOCKER, and you can see it on the Liverpool Empire for one week from the beginning of February 2009. See all the characters come alive in this incredible musical epic. Music and story written by me, produced and directed by Jen Heyes.

Part of the proceeds from both the book and the stage musical will be donated to Alder Hey Hospital's 'IMAGINE APPEAL'.

Although nearly 12 months away, tickets will be on sale very soon.

JOIN US AT THE EMPIRE AND SEE ALL THE CHARACTERS FROM THE MAGIC LOCKER COME ALIVE.

PSYCHICS OR DELUDED FOOLS?

Posted by Billy Roberts on January 5, 2008 1:06 PM

Psychics or deluded fools! This is an interesting point made by one of my blog readers, who also asks if I would take a £500,000 challenge. I have to say that paranormal skills are far easier to disprove than they are to substantiate. I am not a medium by choice as much as I am by birth and circumstances. It is not my intention to prove anything to anyone. Also, I have to say it is easy to pour disdain and ridicule mediums and psychics, but unless you have experienced enough of them to put you in the position to pass judgement, then it is unfair to make a crass comment by condemning them all. It is true that not all mediums and psychics are genuine, and so when consulting one it is important to be selective.

It's easy to have a pop at people in my profession when they are not in a position to defend themselfves. It's even more unintelligent to accuse mediums of not being genuine simply because they do not rise to the bait of 'WHY DON'T YOU USE YOUR SKILLS TO FIND MISSING CHILDREN, OR TO BRING A CONCLUSION TO UNSOLVED CRIMES?' I have been working as a medium for over 25 years, and although I have helped the police with their enquiries on numerous occasions, I can honestly say that I have not produced anything really helpful.

Over the past two years I have been working on a book with Dr Ciaran O'Keeffe, (Most Haunted) entitled THE GREAT SPIRITUAL CLASH, due to be published on June 1st. This project is an intellectual battle between a parapsychologist and a medium, and although Ciaran and myself come from completely different academic backgrounds, the concept should appeal to both sceptics and devotees of the paranormal. The Great Spiritual Clash is a book with a broad appeal and explores the whole concept of the paranormal. By the way, I would not subject myself to further ridicule by allowing my skills to be tested for money. In saying that, I have been involved in numerous scientific tests over the years, and these are far more interesting than rising to the veiled or other wise innuendoes used by those who disguise who they really are. After all, the pen is far mightier than the sword, don't you think?
